Glass Furnace - Float Bath
Glass
The float bath, used in the production of flat glass, is a process in which molten glass flows onto the surface of liquid tin (Sn) to create glass sheets with uniform thickness and smooth surfaces.
Zone Configuration and Temperature Range in the Float Bath
| Zone | Temperature Range | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Inlet (High-Temperature Zone) | Approx. 1,100–1,200℃ | Molten glass enters and spreads over the tin surface, subject to the most severe thermal and chemical conditions. |
| Middle (Stabilization Zone) | Approx. 1,000–800℃ | The glass spreads and stabilizes, requiring stable temperatures and ideal forming conditions. |
| Outlet (Cooling Zone) | Approx. 700–600℃ | Solidified flat glass prepares for the next stage of production, such as annealing. |
Examples of Refractory Applications
| Part | Main Refractory Used | Properties |
|---|---|---|
| ①Bottom | High-alumina bricks, chamotte bricks | Anti-flaking properties, low gas permeability, hydrogen diffusion properties |
